Welcome to "Sidewalk Etiquette." Here you will hopefully find thoughtful, honest, and intriguing reflections on current events and issues. Two years ago, "Sidewalk Etiquette" appeared in The Anchor, a newspaper at Hope College (Holland, MI). It was successful at provoking dialogue in the academic community, but it was also frustratingly inefficient. I was younger, hot-blooded, and desperate to stir up the hornet's nest. Now, it is my prayer that "Sidewalk Etiquette" will capture your attention, arouse your curiosity, and inspire you to think deeply about the various issues its articles may raise.
So please read on and "dare to disturb the universe," as I am trying to do in a way that builds us up.

Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.
For I have known them all already, known them all -
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall

So how should I presume?
